Cabinet of Curiosities

  • Wednesday 17 February, 10am – 3pm

Work with artist Dawn Smithers to create your own curiosities from mixed media for an enormous group cabinet. Take your own curiosities home at the end of the day, along with a photograph of the group’s collective outcome.

Quirky Chairs

  • Thursday 18 February, 10am – 3pm

Work with artist Caroline Jones, to design your own miniature chair for a favourite character and make it come alive using wire and modroc. Whilst it is drying take up the challenge to make a chair out of junk materials.

9 – 14 years

Cabinet of Curiosities

  • Wednesday 17 February, 10am – 3pm

Work with artist Emma Middleton to create a cabinet of curiosities to keep your collections in. After looking at the exhibition you will design and make a cabinet that expresses the identity of your personal collection.

Quirky Chairs

  • Thursday 18 February, 10am – 3pm

Inspired by the Silas Birtwistle Exhibition, work with artist Megan Dowsett, using found materials and collage to create an imaginary chair, before reigning in your ideas to build a 3D fantastical model chair.

Drawing Workshop

    • 2pm – 4pm: 7 – 9 years

Discover the essential basics to drawing by looking. Explore a range of drawing media, including pencil, charcoal and ink and discover the qualities of each as you create several mixed media drawings of your own.

Portrait Workshop

For Children and Young People with Disabilities

£10.00 per person. Materials included. There will be support on the day and the gallery will contact participants prior to the workshop to discuss any particular needs or requirements. If you would like more information please call us on 020 8831 6461.

Work with a professional artist, using touch and sight to explore the faces around you and create your own portrait using line, tone and shape. Experiment with a range of drawing materials including ink, graphite, collage and wire. Siblings and friends are welcome to come along too!
